.I'm going to stick my neck out here....I believe the Commonwealth bogie as used on the Hymek, Mk1 coaches etc was of American origin, built in the UK under licence from the Commonwealth Steel Company Illinois.Very neat. Looks like a cross between an AAR type A and type B truck.



I think you're probably right. Once painted and weathered they'll look the part, a nice solid presence. I built a set of JLTRT GWR American bogies, they had a separate "real" coil spring to fit and they were a real pain to get them sitting right. The seating had to be absolutely perfect otherwise they didn't sit straight and the twist made them look false.I will nip in to the workshop for another look. I think the springs I have won't look 'beefy' enough though.
