Given the lack of "digging in", I imagine the rear pod of the tripod would be more than a tad uncomfortable for the gunner, were he to pull the trigger.
I can imagine a cartoon moment of it, and him, sliding backwards down the ramp...

I do like these lorries - anyone know what they are?
The nearest lorry would appear to be a mid-1930s Armstrong Whitworth or possibly even a Thorneycroft. Judging by the wheel centres both lorries and their trailer come from the same builder.

I wondered that. Then I thought "Saurer", and I think I am correct.
A bit more idle fossicking around the interwebs leads me to think the pictured vehicles are Armstrong-Saurer.
