I have been missing far too long frae this esteemed forum.
Here are some new examples of what is in "The Works" at present.

The Roger Chivers Dia.1/119*1/120 21T mineral wagon is a wonderful and much missed kit. This beastie has had Bill Bedford suspension fitted. The brake cylinders are mounted on the Ambis etch suitable for for these wagons.

These next two images show another Roger Chivers kit, his Dia.1/1570 Lamprey ballast wagon. Again, Bill Bedford suspension and Ambis brake gubbins are used. The second image shows modifications in progress - silly but I think they will be worth it.

BR fruit vans are an interesting area, strange variations lurk for the unwary. How about an LMS style chassis and springing with LNER style brakes. Add to that the van end variations... Stay tuned.

Finally for this post, a BR Medfit with Bedford suspension, Rumney Models springs/axleboxes and Craig Welsh brake vees.

Some more new images from the Works:

Another fruit van; this one having had a new solebar made frae Evergreen channel and spare Rumney overlays. The w-irons are Scalefour Society ones of a certain vintage...
2020-05-28-17-50-29.jpg
Frankenstein lives! Solebar renewed, Evergreen channel again but with a Bradwell solebar insert. Yes, LMS style suspension with LNER style brakes - BR at its confused best. The springs/axle box castings are from Justin Newitts wonderful Rumney Models range whilst the brake vees are from an auld Mainly Trains etch...

The Lamprey has acquired some brake gear and brake shoe assemblies. Ambis brake vees and 3D printed brakes from Guy Rixons Shapeways store. I tend towards these for all my stock now...

More soon, once I can plan what is next...

Good afternoon,
Yet more activities frae darkest Cheshire. 2021-02-02-16-36-57.jpg

These first two images show the on going BR fruit van project. This one is from the batch built with LMS style springs and LNER style brake rigging - a bit of a Frankenstein.
The body is the Peco/Parkside one with a scratch built undergubbins - again, a Frankenstein like collection of bits, plastic and castings.

This next item is a Peco/Parkside RCH 5 plank mineral with upgrades and fettling. In a bit of mad silliness, I managed to attach the axleboxes to the bearings in the Bedford spring carriers. The end result is rather nice, if a bit loopy...

Be seeing you

Good afternoon all
Recently I procured some auld stock off of a well known auction website. The significance is that the stock had been built by my friend and mentor, David Goodwin. So what you say? Well, within the boxfile was a "runt," an item definitely NOT built by David. Oh dear...
Some renovation and rebuilding is in order for this ex-LMS brake van.
The image shows the progress so far; mind, this beastie is going to need some thinking about.

Great to see you getting back at it. Some good stuff on the bench there.

All the best to you and the missus.

Cheers,

Recently, I have been lucky enough some auld items of stock via a well known on line trading concern. They come from the collection of well known EM modeller, Derek Evans. They are not without their issues, with parts missing and a good deal of finishing required.
Below is the first item in the repair/finishing shop, an auld D&S kit for a Gresley 32ft pigeon/brake van. The handrails, door handles, brakes and so on need addressing for starters. Mind, the basic bodyshell and underframe are pretty sound.

I'll be following closely, I've got a 7mm scale version of this in my cupboard to build.

Some further information for the 4mm modeller. Chivers Finelines do a kit of this prototype as a plastic kit. One of them is lurking in a box and when I can find the blasted thing, it will be providing me with some parts for the project. I suspect that the odds & sods box will be paying a part as well...

Some more activity frae darkest Cheshire:

STEEL MEDFIT#1.jpg

This BR Dia1/017 steel Medfit is the first to reach finishing line on this project.
The wheel load will go in this week, pending the fitting of means to stop the wheels going 'trundle about...'
I will also reattach the spring/axlebox assembly that has gone walkies. :?
Another Medfit is nearly ready, this one being a wooden-sided LMS one...

The change in my meds before last Christmas, continues to furnish the MoJo with plenty of creative energy.
Four fitted Grampus are being worked on again; mind, it is crazy to think that it was 2015 when I began this project
Bill Bedford sprung units provide the suspension and the weighting is provided by auld steel stampings [a large box of which has plenty of usage left].
The axleboxes are 3D prints from Rumney Models, together with all the detailing gubbins.
