Modelu 7mm figures

Thought I'd post this in the gallery. A couple of the Modelu 7mm figures finally painted up. They're spot on for shape and stance, a bit short on definition and fine detail when seen close up. As a result they sort of look out of focus when photographed close up. These figures are shunter and porter. They look OK in period B&W; looking a bit Colin Telfer Gifford. modelu 7mm figures 1.jpgmodelu 7mm figures 1 B and W.jpg

I guess this is a real person in authentic dress, in two poses. Modelu was at Telford, I watched him scan someone. it only took a few minutes, and they appeared on the computer screen. I don't know what device he used, it looked the same shape as an iPad. I believe Heljan and Dapol use the same method for their products.

Alan uses a 3DSystems "iSense" scanner connected to an iPad.
Heljan and Dapol use the same basic technology but via totally different capability machines - Bit like comparing a Spandau machine gun with a kids catapult [if I may borrow a phrase from Ian Fleming].

What puzzled me about what Alan did, was that I could not see a 'datum' point. He moved around the subject freely, and had not covered her with little stickers.
