A few days for the paint to harden and I can see if it still fits.

Yay, it still fits. Now why can’t I find any 8BA Cheesehead screws.

I found, at last, a suitable screw to attach the rear of the firebox to the cab front. A bit of a fiddle was an understatement as it had to be jiggled into position held onto a screwdriver by a spot of Blutac at an acute angle through one of the rear cab windows. Tissue paper also had to be wrapped around the screwdriver to prevent damage to the paintwork. Not sure where the screw came from but it had about 2mm of blind thread on the end and an extra wide head. Perhaps a brush spring retaining screw of an old XO4 motor? The vacuum ejector pipe was also clipped into position held onto position.

Some work on 704 sees the backhead lightly glued in position, this was done just incase I needed access to the boiler retaining screw, and the handbrake added. Some rivet strips, thank you Julian Wynn (Taff Vale/Dragon Models), were added to the rather bland cab roof and a coat of primer added.

Final details being added include tank fillers, front sand boxes, GWR roundel, some cab fittings and the roof.
tool box, cab glazing, coal, lamps and a crew to complete it.





A reminder of the "Westernised" locomotive, the GWR roundel can just be made out. The overhang of the cab roof must have caused problems with drifting steam!
