Just a quick one!

Eventually have got round to using a new iPad.

Problem is, when I add a post to mine or those of others’, the functions which appear at the top are greyed out so I cannot for instance add an emoticon, and images when attached appear as reference numbers inside parentheses.

Would anyone be kind enough to advise?

On the right side of the toolbar is a pair of square brackets symbol [ ]. Click it and your problem is fixed.

You have the BB code editor turned on - i.e. all editing would be done by using BB code instead of the button shortcuts which are greyed out.
