Back at the workbench after a successful reaming, so work has progressed on the tender. As per the instructions the axlebox spring assemblies have been prepared and are shown here attached by gravity as they will be set aside for painting.

I have messed up one of the shackles so will give MOK a call in the morning to beg a replacement..........

Well, well. This is a first: more than 2 days at the bench to construct a loco bogie!! In my defence I would point out that there are more than the average number of parts......

Seen here with the spring detail attached by gravity as they will need to be removed for painting.

As expected, when fitted to the frames all is well.

The bogie is just missing a lifeguard as one of the castings was malformed: I'll not bother MOK until all of the other castings have been checked/used/wrecked. Dave Sharp gave brilliant service when I mangled a shackle. Don't want to bother him unduly.

I have now started on the interesting bit - the inside motion. I suspect it may be a day or two before I have anything to report.

Good progress today.

Only one significant issue so far: there is no space to fit the double brake block to the leading wheels. I have taken the view that it isn't particularly visible and a proper solution will be very difficult. The hangar bracket needs to be moved forward, but then it would interfere with the motion bracket. I should be able to finish the brake gear tomorrow and put the bogie together. Will not be able to fit the bogie just now as I am awaiting delivery of the bespoke bogie post.
