Ah! The wheels on the axles AFTER fitting the conrods. Brilliant! I am concerned, on so many thing, but on the drilling of handrail knob. I've done it before, but that does no relieve the apprehension. What do you mean by a "tread"?
Re the crankpins. I am thinking of measuring the nuts. Over the flats and over the width of the points. Pick a drill about half way between. Drill GENTLY, with a pinchuck, deep enough to fit the nut. Run a bolt in from the front, with a washer, into the nut, and try to draw it into the back of the wheel. If it won't go, I'll use the next sized drill to just barely open the recess, rinse, repeat. I am not wild about the idea of applying a soldering iron to the nut, but it may come to that. I have a soldering station, with a rheostat to control the heat. I can start low, and hopefully not over power the plastic. If I were at all proud, I'd use a bush from Gladiator, into a hole bore right thru. But I have no pride.

Apparently the boiler to my Problem class was rolled today, and is going in the mail to me tomorrow, I should have it late Friday. Good thing too, as I have run out of things to do without it.
I'm contemplating weighting the bally thing. Mine will be unpowered but the motors will be in the tender. Right now it looks as if it will weigh about 250g, which is not enough to compress the Slaters springs. I am considering cutting the springs....

I had been advised to run the driver without any springs, trusting to its weight to keep it rolling. That seems to be working! And I cut the other four springs down such that about one turn is showing above the peg. Things are looking up. I get the boiler back from my chum who rolled it for me, tomorrow. Friday some serious reckoning is on the horizon.

Nice work, John. I hope you are pleased with the outcome.

And thank you for the video you sent me privately, which I assume is the one you're trying to load here. I don't know the answer to your question, unfortunately. My workaround is to create my own YouTube channel and upload videos there. I found that quite straight forward, following the YouTube instructions. Then insert a link to the video here using either the Insert Media button or the Insert Link button. Perhaps someone more embedded in the 21st century than me will have a better idea.
