Hello all,

the last update on the new hold & fold,
I forgot to do this step last time I was making the clamps,
New hold and fold 04b.JPG

Cleaning up the tabs on the edge of the top channel.

This is what I was using to clean the tabs off, a 400 grit diamond hard rubber block, that's really used for cleaning the edge of ceramic tiles.

D.J.P. recommends to scribe along the fold lines for the top channel, I'm going to use one of these that I got from Temu for £1.89 and 10 new blades for £1.70, the diamond sanding block was £3.48.

On with the sides.

Hello OzzyO
I recently purchased a David J Parkins MK1 Non Gangway 58ft suburban coach kit I saw you have started to build his MK1 Bogie kit as I have never attempted anything this detailed before I have read through instructions in conjunction with the detailed diagrams at the moment it is bowing my mind apart would you have any suggestions on how to approach the build please?.

Really l just cannot see the difficulty. You are only dealing with one part at a time. Follow the written instructions in conjunction with the diagrams and prototype photos in the kit instructions or online - and there are hundreds of those.

As you deal with each part, things will become very much clearer than if you try to visualise it all in on go. Take your time and try not to think of when you’ll arrive at the end. It’s the journey that is the thing!

09.30 and I’m already sounding so Zen!

Hello South Steamer,

as DJP says just work at it one piece at a time, I did it in modules . Say bogie side frames, then the cross beams. Doing this for both bogies and the job comes along at a good pace.
The hardest part of the job is counter boring the axle boxes for the bearings.

You could also look at Heather K's build of some of the Mk1s.

Hello OzzyO and DJP
Have taken on board your suggestions thank you. Had a second look at instructions regarding the bogie building I think it is sinking in now have not looked past this stage of construction the rest can wait until I have finished the bogies one area at a time I think.

Kind regards,

Paul.

Hello all
I have two O gauge RJH Bulleid coach kits to build at some point, in the boxes was only an A4 sheet with drawings from An Illustrated History of Southern Coaches by Mike King book, was wondering if RJH produced written instructions for these kits if anyone can shed some light on this please?

I released these in 1979 and in around 1984 they were sold to Cavalier Coaches. I think they were sold again to RJH around ‘88 but l have no instructions for them as l passed the original paste-ups to Cavalier with the sale.

Of course we now own the Cavalier coaches range. Things do tend to go in cycles and we have masters for all the fittings a masochist might require to produce most SR loco hauled coach types - and plenty of LSWR ones too - so who knows? If l live to 130 it’s a distinct possibility!

Hello 3 Link
I have seen your pictures of a 7mm kit built BR Southern Region CRT Kits Bogie Luggage Van and If I am correct it looked like you had used another corridor connection kit from the ones that come with the kit {and looked a lot more prototypical} could you inform me where you got them from please as I have two of these kits to build.

Kind regards

Paul.

Hello all,

I went onto the MMP web site to have a look at some more kits, to see this.

"Customer announcement

It is with immense sadness that we announce the death of my dear husband, David Joseph Parkins. He dedicated his life to everything modelling (alongside all things nature, music and family). Thank you for the many years of interest and support. He loved the modelling community. Thank you, Mrs Rebecca Parkins.

In time, we hope to sell off the remaining stock and are taking note of any interest from people looking to purchase any part of the business."

Talk about a belly punch.
I spoke to Dave a few times about some kits and bits always a good natter. not just about kit that he had but ideas that he had in the pipe line.
