Photo puzzle six - what and where (again)

Here is a snap-shot of something that I spotted last weekend...

guess what and where.jpg

What was this is?

Where is it?

Simples or might be if most of the useful clues had not been removed by "official vandals". Fraser (@Overseer) is respectfully asked to wait a few days before joining in and then only when he can provide a photo of a complete item (my knowledge of this "thing" is limited to just one photo in a 1970s/80s photo album by Ian Allan).

Looks like good firewood to me, keep me toasty for a few hours that bit would ;)

Other than that, pretty sure it's a drinking fountain stand or hand basin stand with a single mixer tap in the middle.

As to where, looks like the one in the GPO bike sheds at Southwald I had to relag the pipework on 35 years ago.

Looks like a standard mounting plate for a cast iron water hand lift pump with a lead lift chamber.

Aah, there it is!

I'd go with a pump mounting, except that it's against a window. Could it be a support for a block token instrument?

My memory, of one picture in a photo album, is that this object is the wood remains of a drinking fountain. What has been removed is the cast bowl / sink section which sat upon the boxed section and a backplate with the water outlet. Not visible in the photo is a large bore lead pipe within the box section at the front

The location is Spean Bridge, against the end screen of the covered portion of the platform.
